# when you say that you haven't actually seen it
what do you mean by that? Shirley not that you haven't seen it?
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:16, archived)
# Yes, yes I do.
Never seen an Alien or Indiana Jones I don't think....
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:17, archived)
# Not seen alien?
*flagellates*
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:19, archived)
# Meh.
Wanna know something really shocking? I've never seen any of the Terminator films either ;)
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:21, archived)
# don't bother - you're better off seeing something else tbh
Terminator 1 is good for an 80's film but doesn't hold up to much now. T2 was more money but less good T3 was a yawn fest I have little hopes for T4.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:23, archived)
# oh fucking hell.
do you live in a box or something?
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:24, archived)
# No,
I would just much rather watch a good film that I really enjoy than something that interests me in no way whatsoever.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:33, archived)
# fair enough,mate
good point, some films people rave about are not particularly excellent.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:37, archived)
# I am not saying it is shit or anything,
I obviously couldn't comment having not seen it.

But I would much rather spend a couple of hours watching these films:

www.imdb.com/title/tt0287467/
www.imdb.com/title/tt0441909/
www.imdb.com/title/tt0369702/
www.imdb.com/title/tt0125659/

I am a bit obsessed with Spanish cinema as you can see ;)

If you haven't seen any of those, do! They are all brilliant! And definitely watch the last one, Abre los ojos, which is the original Vanilla Sky. But don't let that put you off! It is fucking genius, and if I ever see Tom Cruise, I will punch him in the windpipe for ruining such a great film!

# is not watching sci-fi part of your retire by 30 scheme?
is that where i've gone wrong?
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:33, archived)
# Ha ha ha!
Could be ;)
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:33, archived)
# I'm nearly 30
can I retire?
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:41, archived)
# Sadly no.
You have seen all of the afore mentioned films :D
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:44, archived)
# what the fuck did you do with your childhood?
well - Alien 1 is one of the better films ever made... Indiana Jones... well, they're good, but I wouldn't say they're essential viewing.

What films have you seen? You are aware that films exist and you can see them aren't you...?

What about The God Father? It's a Wonderful Life? Casablanca? Goodfellas..? The Prince's Bride?
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:21, archived)
# CASABLANCA
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:24, archived)
# is a great film
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:25, archived)
# IS AN AMAZING FILM
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:27, archived)
# I have seen all of those films,
I just aint really a sci fi fan.

I love all of those films apart from The Godfather. The book was a hell of a lot better.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:28, archived)
# ^^ this
I've not seen Star Wars, Alien, most of the Bond films...
EDIT: or Godfather, Casablanca or Goodfellas
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:24, archived)
# you GOTTA see Godfather
all of life's lessons are therein
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:27, archived)
# :D
"it insists upon itself..." I use that all the time when I'm in London :D

ha ha ha
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:29, archived)
# eh?
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:31, archived)
# sorry - it's a family guy joke
and I use it to describe London when I'm there...

yeah - bit tenuous if you don't know what I'm talking about.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:32, archived)
# just wondered how it connected to Godfather?
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:33, archived)
# In Family Guy,
Peter says he isn't a fan of The Godfather, he says that he feels it insists upon itself too much.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:37, archived)
# Peter hasn't seen the God Father ... because
it insists upon itself...
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:37, archived)
# damn that's a good point
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:38, archived)
# PLEASE
tell me one of you has seen The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

Which is the best film ever, no question
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:27, archived)
# I SECOND THIS
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:28, archived)
# Although Apocalypse Now sorta holds that spot for me
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:29, archived)
# Apocalypse now is great
But it doesn't have TGTBATU's staring scenes

Literally half the film is just staring

But what staring
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:34, archived)
# i like it for the hanging scene at the end
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:39, archived)
# It is very good
but my favourite western is The Bravados with Gregory Peck and Lee Van Cleef.

Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid is also good, with Kristofferson as Billy the Kid, James Coburn as Garrett, and Bob Dylan as a cheeky little knife-throwing rascal in the Kid's posse. Dylan also did the soundtrack.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:36, archived)
# Not seen The Bravados
but Pat Garret and Billy the Kid is superb, you are right
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:47, archived)
# which films do you like then
... or is it just that it's not something which interests you?
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:28, archived)
# i've just never got round to seeing them
i have no great objection to them, i've just never had the opportunity to see any of them.

I think Star Wars has been on a few times, but it's never caught/held my attention.

*hides*
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:35, archived)
# Star Wars is an overrated tale
of incest and improbable technology.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:39, archived)
# Why did no-one ever tell me this?
*goes to watch Star Wars*
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:47, archived)
# Goodfellas I would very strongly recommend.
Godfather, you would be better off reading the book.

The Bond films, I probably wouldn't watch either if I hadn't grown up watching them.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:30, archived)
# the bond films bore me to tears
*yawn*
(, Wed 19 Nov 2008, 11:33, archived)
# ^^this
again, they've been ON, but I get bored with them and I've never seen one all the way through.
