we pay for it through our TV licence ... but you don't have to pay more to download it.

I agree with you there!
I think iplayer is alright, but they could do with stuff being available for longer than 7 days though.

If it's made by the BBC it's more than likely available for 30 days.
Unfortunately rights holders are the bane of everyone's existence.

They should highlight that in the radio times or something.
A few times I've though, "Oh I've missed that, but I'll catch it on iPlayer later", to find that it's not there :(

There used to be a lovely irony on the Radio 4 player
That 'Pick of the Week' wasn't available to listen again, that never failed to inject a little mirth into dull Sunday evenings.
