did this. When I got pregant with 3rd boy he thought fuck that, did his usual summer holiday disappearance and then only came home now and then. He'd obviously found somewhere else as he was well fed. Trouble is when he does try to come back his mum twould tell him piss off each time so he gave trying to come home.

Considering that the design life of a domestic is supposedly ~9 years. Either way, I'm sorry for your loss. Silly little sods get right under your skin, don't they?
We lost Guizmeaux (pronounced "Gizmo" of course, and yes, he was named after the Mogwai) last month at 16.5 years.
Jack was a full-on feral that Giz brought home to us last year. Seriously - we watched him do it. I have no idea why this happened, and I'm not sure that their motivations are the same as ours, but maybe he wanted a successor that he approved of.
