I have both books and theyre chuffing amazing. Shame the actual film wasnt as good as the art and soundtrack...

# I do love the film though.
mostly for the animation style.. when I have the monies I shall be buying the books it is based on.
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 1:06, archived)
# hm, i dunno
i got soooo hyped up about it, and loved the plaid soundtrack even before the film came out, that the end result kind of dissapointed me.

Its beautiful, but the plot is a mess and the character development is weak. Rubbish ending too. Maybe i need to watch it more times, i dunno.

# I had heard nothing about it then saw the trailer.
have you seen a danish film called Princess?

I GUESS NOT ALL MANGA/ANIME IS DERIVATIVE CRAP THEN
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 1:08, archived)
# not really
though a helluva lot of it is. Im losing faith with modern anime now - its just all tits, cute girls and tits.

I think my perceptions have been soured by the amount of amateur toss floating about on the internet.

# massively dissapointing!
Again, beautiful, but the film itself was lacking.

Satoshi Kon (the bloke who did it) is a mixed bag. I thought perfect blue and tokyo godfathers were great, yet millennium actress and paprika were poo
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 1:36, archived)
# I aint seen millenium actress
I liked paprika but that again mostly as it was bright shiny colours doing crazy things :)

his TV show paranoia agent I also thought was rather fabulous :) but then I think I have a habit of liking things that confuse me.

# bloody hell
those are really quite incredible
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 1:11, archived)
# Awesome
may I colour this one in?
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 1:06, archived)
# your previous colourings were truly superb
i would very much like to see what you could do with this one :D
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 1:14, archived)
# thanks
I'm actually working on my own sketch at the moment, and I use the term "sketch" in it's loosest term, it's taking me ages to get all the perspectives right and trying to get a tiny bit of character in, all my other sketches have been rather sterile.
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 1:17, archived)
# i've never really been any good at perspective
i usually just trace basic lines from photos/3d renderings to get it right, then build the rest of the drawing around that.

i'd love to see your sketch when it's finished :D
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 1:24, archived)
# okay
but the perspective lines will still be there :D
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 1:27, archived)
# You should just look up some perspective construction.
You'd only need basic vanishing points and a few lines if you're doing mostly one piece buildings.

Plus it's fun.
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 1:32, archived)
# that am lovely
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 1:06, archived)
# shit yeah

# air of doom
but nicely drawn air of doom........

# Good stuff!
Wish I could draw :(
