# OK first post and a bit crappy, and a bit of a request too

I'm trying to put a poster together for a poker tournament & barbecue and want a bed of chips under the burger (poker chips, very cheesy i know!). Does anyone have any suggestions? I can't even find a suitable source at the moment and lack any skills to make my own!!!

# Pokers chip?
Yup even that works ;)

# Yes, you're right
but i've worked my way through about 18 pages and can't find anything that I can make work! Everything is at the wrong angle/size or watermarked! I may have to resort to trying to make my own, but then I will be venturing into territory I've never ventured into before!

# hmm
what software are you using?
(, Wed 6 May 2009, 18:25, archived)
# illustrator by the looks of it

# Some crappy program called photoplus
then after some tweaking, ran it through vector magic online.

I have come up with a solution on the chips image. Borrowed some friends chips and used a camera! Why are the obvious things always the things I miss!!!!

# I just had a quick fiddle
with one of the pics, but the burger is a bit tall and thin I think to be honest with you....

# If you are after a chip face on then you can use the Crop Tool set to perspective to pull it straight
if you want to turn a chip to the side just select the chip invert the selection and delete the surrounding pixels. Free Transform the chip to the angle you require. Ctrl click on the thumbnail in the Layer Palette to select it and press Ctrl + Alt and tap the Up arrow key and it will extrude the chip to the required depth - job's a good 'un.

# top chip!
does that create a new layer per pixel then?
(, Wed 6 May 2009, 18:42, archived)
# Not if the selection is still active, otherwise yes.

# arr thanks
I will have a go laters

# oooo

very good tutorial :)

# you can also invert the selection after you've done the extrude
and then Shift+Alt click on the Layer Palette's thumbnail and that will switch the selection to the extruded edge only - you can dodge and burn some shadows and highlights or smooth out some of those lines by locking the layer's transparency and using a Guassian Blur.

# That's what your edit and transform tools are for.
even easier, if you have CS2+ then just copy a poker chip face, extrude it to 3d then rotate to whatever you want it to be. Copy, paste and repeat.
(, Wed 6 May 2009, 18:32, archived)
# you can do that?

# suggestion for a good poker night poster:
write "royal flush" on the money or the hamburger
(, Wed 6 May 2009, 18:35, archived)
# maybe have it look like someone off the side of the poster is saying "straight flush"
and then the burger or the money says royal flush and beats them with it

make it look like an exciting victory

# if it looks like an exciting victory then maybe people will think it could be an exciting night and might come along
this is just the foot in the door that I'm helping you with here, after that you're on your own. It will be up to you to make the night exciting.
