# well done anyway
I need to lose some too. Have you got a cunning plan that works, or is it healthy diet and regular exercise?

# cheating
i got a gastric bypass

# do want*
*not really justifiable, I'm only 19 stone 7 and as a 6'3" man, that's just me being lazy.
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:03, archived)
# try this:
breakfast:
1 slice of toast, thinly buttered
cup of tea/coffe, substitute sweeteners for sugar
apple or orange

lunch:
1 egg, scrambled on 1 slice of thinly buttered toast

dinner:
1 medium bowl of soup*
1 slice of medium white bread.

this should help you drop a bit of weight if you really want to!

*soup is made by putting 1 ham hock, 3 tins of carrots and 1 bag of red lentils in a large pan of water, bringing to the boil, then simmering for 1 hour. take the hock ot, remove all fat, shred meat, put meat back into the soup and blend.
delicious!

when this year's crop went tits up :(

# try
chewing every mouthful at least 20 times, and putting your knife and fork / whatever down between each mouthful.
sounds silly, but it really does work to make you feel more satisfied on less food.

# Bravo!
Much kudos for having the balls!

# When you've lost all the weight
do you have to get the operation reversed?
And does having a gastric bypass mean you can eat loads but nothing goes into your stomach? If so, erm, how does the food get out?

(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:30, archived)
# It comes out of your ears
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:32, archived)
# the bypass is non-reversible
they remove 3/4 of your stomach and about 6 feet of intestines. you can only eat very small amounts, but you don't get hungry. for the first 3 months, i was on jars of baby food.
small jars.
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:33, archived)
# Ohhhh I see
But shirley once you've reached your goal weight you will still keep losing weight if you can only eat tiny amounts?
But most importantly, the 6 feet of intestines, did they give it back to you in a jar?

(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:37, archived)
# no
and i asked, too.
my weight will eventually level out as my stomach will stretch a bit to fit more in. my mate's mum had it done, she's put a stone back on from drinking and eating junk.
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:40, archived)
# Well, good luck with the final push!
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:44, archived)
# thanks :)
i'm looking forward to the tummy tuck, that will get rid of all this flobbly skin! you know when you first tip a tin of condensed chicken soup into the pan? well, that's what my stomach looks like right now! :D

# I just
had the gastric band op.
lost 2 stone on my own while i was waiting; then thanks to the pre-op diet i've lost another 1 and a half stone in just under 3 weeks.
Am already feeling lots better - though i have a fair way to go!
well done for your slimmicity! *hugs*

# you're doing the liver reduction diet?
i don't envy you, i bloody hated it! it's been almost a year, i still can't face jelly :(
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:41, archived)
# i did it for 10 days and lost 8 kilos!
had my op on the weds before last and have lost another 6 kilos since.
the rules have changed slightly on the liver-reduction diet - now they stress fat-free over liquid-only - so you're still 'allowed' solid foods as long as they're hyper-lowfat.
I still did a whole 3 days of liquid-only just to be sure - and yes - i'm fucking SICK of jelly and yoghurt!
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:46, archived)
# did you try the swiss vegetable bouillon?
i love that stuff! it will be a year for me on the 24th
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:50, archived)
# i pretty much
lived off Knorr Chicken Noodle packet soups [only 0.6% fat!] and Muller Light fat-free yoghurts for the liquid-only days. and white fish baked in rye breadcrumbs for the solidfood days.
you've done fantastically well - i bet you feels tonnes better than before you had it done!
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:56, archived)
# definitely!
although i'm losing a fortune in clothes! i had to do the liquid and jelly only for 2 weeks
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:58, archived)
# ah, the gastric band
support group thinger in my area has an awesome clothes-swap thing
where you take in clothes you've slimmed out of, and you can pick up clothes in your size for free. they have tones of awesome stuff, most of it barely-worn because people are losing weight so fast.
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 20:09, archived)
# there's nothing like that around here
despite the fact that this place is heaving with fatties :D
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 20:12, archived)
# That seems like such a good option as it's less intrusive and it's adjustable
but by feck, these types of operations are expensive.
Mind you, all private operations are expensive.
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:47, archived)
# NHS FTW!
(, Mon 6 Jul 2009, 19:51, archived)
# i think it's about
seven grand if you go private, yeah.
Plus any aftercare beyond the package you buy, and anything like skin removal and face/boob lifts.
gets pretty costly [but then, so is a funeral and i know which i'd prefer to spend the money on]
