There was that prat from a while back who kept crashing his boat and having to be rescued, but he hardly qualifies as a celebrity.

Did Ellen MacArthur ever have to bail out?

Surely there must be some suitably tasteless celebrity marine misadventure that we can relate this to for the compo?

Edit Compo or not, it's great stuff. You've managed to capture the protagonist's sense of angst and solitude, adrift upon the briney deep, excellently.
