I believe that you may have missed the general feelings of the board.
Where, back in 2004, we used to like poignancy, these days it's just cocks.

Let's celebrate eh?
An unelected*, authoritarian, puritan bigot stormed parliament to impose his own dictatorial rule over that of parliament.
He believed that he was chosen by God and committed genocide against the Irish Catholics. He forced ordinary people to live in terror.
What a fine example to us all. I'll take the current lot with all their flaws over Cromwell's idea of a democracy any day.
*Technically, he was an elected MP but he certainly wasn't elected as Lord Protector.

Whilst I abhor common sense on the board,
I am forced to concede that this is an excellent example of it.

Let us follow the fine example
And away! To Ireland! And genocide! (But just the ordinary people.)

'many' have not resigned, a handful have.
quite a few, however, have said they won't stand for re-election. If they had resigned, then there would be quite a few by-elections being held right now.
and let's be honest, bugger all will face any punishment via criminal prosecution because of this, as the sytem is too contrived to be effective in doing anything about it.

If my boss told me
"You can't have a payrise commensurate with your position because the public wouldn't like it," I'd fiddle my expenses too. The fact I fiddle my expenses already is neither here nor there.
