I read this morning, it was written for Cowell's answer to the Spice Girls, called Girl Thing, but their first two singles didn't do well, so they were dropped.

Shame, as ANYONE could have got to number one with that song

I have a somewhat ... ecclectic taste in music. As anyone who has received one of my Randomburn CDs will be able to confirm.

Also, Roxy off Eastenders was in a 5 piece girl group which had all of one hit. If I could find a copy of it, that would be on my trusty Sony NW-HD3 too.
