Akira, Freddy Kreuger, Back to The Future, Mad Max*, Christine...
.. there's probably more that I'm missing.
And 90s represents with Iron Giant.
* Might not be a Turbo Interceptor, but it's only onscreen for a fraction of a second.

Guess I should watch it in slow motion.
I only saw the Iron Giant and lots of boring fast cuts.
Still doesn't really make sense to mix 90s and 80s stuff, assuming the story is the same. The choices in the book were perfect.
edit: at least Joust (or possibly Bernie Clifton) gets a nod.

Freddy jumps into shot at the 0.59 mark before getting blasted, Kaneda's bike makes its first appearance at 1.35, and the DeLorean and Christine are both in shot from 1.42 onwards.

Of course, I thought it was a final fantasy chocobo
That'll be the end battle then, shouldn't they be giant pixels though?

Not heard of this before
Is it based on anything, ie a book series or something, or an original movie?
Looks good though!

Armada?
Not really a sequel, more the author repeating his ideas in a less effective way.

I'm giving them bonus points for use of Rush.
But I still didn't think much of the book OR its sequel. I ain't expecting much from this.

Thanks. I think
This is most definitely NOT the book. It also looks a little like it pays homage to the ouevre of Michael Bay so I'll pass this time. I'm actually quite saddened by that trailer. I just hope to fuck no-one decides to option Reamde for a film because they can't be trusted. Not even Spielberg and locations so dramatic as Birmingham and Barbican can elevate it. Nah

Do not read the book.
The book is a bad book. It is not a good book. It is a terrible book. It is written very badly. Many people like the book; this due to them having bad taste in books, as evidenced by their admiration of a book that is not good.
Ready Player One is terribly-written tripe. It is a bad book and you should not read it.
