And I can't be arsed. It's Star Wars, on the big screen, and I can't be arsed. Ten year old me would be screaming at me for thinking this, but I just can't get any excitement together for it. The last two were just terrible. The two before that weren't that good.
I'll probably end up watching it on Netflix or whatever, just to see how they end it, but I'm not expecting it to be any good.

This is a normal post I'll cinema it for sure, even though I despise the cinema experience

This is a normal post There has to come a point where we find we're no longer the target audience for movies like this
Does make me wonder what the sequels would have been like if they'd aged with their audience

I'll freely admit they're aiming for a younger audience than me. I don't think that excuses them making what are very clearly just bad films.

This is a normal post Possibly
But Disney are also behind the Marvel franchise, and they managed to make some brilliant ones of those. Both Guardians of the Galaxy films and Thor Ragnarok being highlights.

This is a normal post ...until you really, really think about it, and go back and watch them
And realise they're formulaic power fantasies where we have to take people running around in stupid costumes like its super serious business.

Into the Spiderverse is the only recent Marvel property film worth a damn, because it actually respects and pays homage to the source material it came from

This is a normal post well there’d be a lot more apathetic griping for one thing
and the sith and jedi would be a lot harder to tell apart

This is a normal post I liked bits of the last two, but also strangely indifferent about this one (but also a bit down generally)
Have friends who are still really excited about it, so good for them

Will still see it, and might avoid the trailer this time, but will be surprised (pleasantly) if the Kylo / Rey thing gets restored to something interesting (imo)

I think the Rey/Kylo thing was the biggest disappointment for me in Ep8. All the trailers were hinting she'd at least explore the dark side with Kylo, if not jump in with both feet. That would have been really interesting if they'd done that. And then she didn't.

But, to be honest, this is just me with films in general now. The last one I watched was Bohemian Rhapsody, and that was only because I was on a plane. I'm now struggling to understand how I ever found watching any film entertaining.

This is a normal post So far so MEH
This is the first one I'm not going to see in the cinema as I just wasn't that in to the 'first' two... I enjoyed the whole 3D Imax experience, the sound, the people around me didn't bother me for the first time in a multiplex- hell I even liked the popped corn the kids are so keen on these days- but good god the acting was just abysmal.

Both of the leads are terrible in their own way; the girl has the screen presence of a plank of wood and the bloke is constantly overdoing it to make up. Carrie Fisher looked like she'd been stuffed and Hamill looked like he just wanted to get back home to guard the huge pile of money they'd given him for showing up for a couple of days.

It's not like it used to be, amirite? Or maybe it was always a bit shit, but now I'm old and miserable and am still talking about a kids film like it's high art.
