Also,
In retrospect I kinda think it's one of the most hardcore things that happened at that festival. A couple of teenage girls went out in front of a crowd they new was hostile, and sang the shit they knew was going to wind all the rockers and metal heads up.
And when the bottles of piss went flying they had a "fuck you" attitude and kept singing. How many pussy indie bands of that time would have had a strop and flounced? Hardcore.

(Secretly agrees but would have been one of the blokes holding up the "BOLLOCKS" sign).

I remember that being the line the NME took at the time.
Hardly a radical revision of history.

I never much read NME to be honest,
But it sounds like it wasn't completely shit.

They were kids and didn't fully understand what was going on
But; it is like putting a protestant flute band to play at an Irish funeral.
They have the "right" to be there, but, at the same time, they have no right to be there.

I think they were pretty self-aware.
Their interviews were always amusing, hence why they got adopted by the NME et al.

From what I understand, they thought being bottled off stage was pretty fucking funny.
And they're right!

I remember them pointing out that
they just got a shower backstage, leaving the audience as the ones covered in piss and beer for the rest of the day.
