I have no idea what a thrid of those connections are, and I'm a biological entity.
An AI programmed with more contemporary cultural trivia than me would beat me at that game, so pretty useless as a captcha task unless you want to filter out humans who aren't paying attention to 4chan memes.
Oh yeah I said thrid. Can't change that now.

it's not a quiz requiring you to know any cultural references
just see which images pair up best, didn't think it was particularly hard

What an odd thing to say.
'Energy' as defined by the game is not energy as understood by me. This is an issue of culture.
Two images having the same energy, to me, would mean they have an identical filesize or hash value, or a picture describing different events or concepts with the same energy expressed in different ways (e.g. an explosion and a balancing boulder, or a thermometer showing a certain temperature and an object of a given mass at a given speed).
A grey alarm bell icon and a photograph of some person are apparently the same energy. I bet there's a ris, but I don't know what it is so I'm blind to it.

I didn't come up with the phrase,
but I suspect it comes from the woo version, ie the same vibes.
There is a ris link in the instructions, though its down at the moment:

This picture looks like this picture. It's not a tricky concept.
