but wasn't the "foreign muck" comment just him saying how his nan [grandmother, presumably] described curry powder 71 years ago? Sure, it was an ill-advised comment to make (especially on live TV) but he wasn't exactly browning up and doing a rendition of Goodness Gracious Me.

He said stuff like that all the time, boasted about never eating foreign food, hid his racism behind his grandparents' obnoxious sayings, which he was obviously proud of.
