I dont know how many of you have 3DSs, but you can scan in QR codes that let you get a Mii on your 3DS. I made a whole bunch of them and turned them into a quick'n'easy game. You don't need a 3DS to play as I took pictures of the Miis too and you can guess from them =)

Are QR codes something that Nintendo have claimed invention of all of a sudden?
( , Sun 27 Mar 2011, 19:05, Reply)

This way I don't have to guess or pre-scan the code to know it's just a Mii

Point is, it's just as exciting. Or should I say "unexciting", plus they were doing this shit back in the 90's with the barcode battler, same shit different colour.
Edit: yet in 2011 you'd expect something a little better really.

And everyone was posting photos of their Mii creations?
This is just a tool to simply swap and exchange Mii's with ease.
You might want to lighten up!

I've really needed that tbh. So long I've been stressing about the difficulty in exchanging Mii's. Until now!
Look, I gave an honest answer like I do with everything on b3ta, if you can't handle it, maybe you should be the one to lighten up. It's b3ta ffs deal with it, some people will find this sort of shit unintestesting. Especially Nintendo related shit.

well there you go...

I thought the rule of "If you don't like it say nothing and don't click 'i like this' " might apply here.
Someone was trying to have a bit of fun and you thought to pooh-pooh it.

I've seen people slated personally for things they have produced on here, quite often too, and I disagree with that. I just don't think some DS game rebranding QR Codes is particularly interesting to be totally honested.

Granted, it's not the next Duke Nukem or Minecraft, but that wasn't what I was trying to make. I didn't invent the QR Codes, Miis or even the platforms it's made on. I just put them all together in the name of boredom and what I hoped with be a bit of fun for users.

or insult your game. I asked the point of it and mainly questioned the fact that a "Mii" code is a QR code with "Mii" written in the middle. Cheers.
( , Sun 27 Mar 2011, 20:02, Reply)

They're clearly referred to as QR codes in all nintendo sources and on the 3DS itself.
The 'Mii' marker in the middle is pure convenience

I presume you're into technology, surely new uses for technology (both old and new) has a 'oh cool' factor for you?

The battlecode system didn't have many veriables, as using Barcodes doesn't hold as much data. If they made barcode battler today, it would probably use QR Codes, but it doesn't. Your'e doing the equivilient of calling all FPS games 'Doom clones', which is basic at best.

It's an efficient solution to share Miis agmonst owners of various nintendo products, especially over the internet in a form that can use current technology, such as JPGs, in order for those who wish to share, to share.
It's a better solution than 'Friend Codes', and allows for even printed medium to contain the data that although you don't want anything to do with, millions of people do.

But Barcode Battler was just a lump of plastic with some LCD numbers on it, and a WHOOOOLE lotta hype.
( , Sun 27 Mar 2011, 19:25, Reply)

It appeals to girls and small kids. Like every other Nintendo product.
( , Sun 27 Mar 2011, 19:42, Reply)

costs a hell of alot less! Or just use your mobile phone because most have QR code apps now.
( , Sun 27 Mar 2011, 20:04, Reply)

What on earth has most phones having a QR code reader got to do with:
1) The quiz originally posted?
2) Nintendo choosing to use them in a different and fun way?
You seem angry about something but it beats me quite what.
( , Sun 27 Mar 2011, 20:12, Reply)

if the Mii's name didn't show up when you scanned the code
( , Sun 27 Mar 2011, 19:15, Reply)

the fact that you can do the "quiz" with the original photo's makes it somewhat less harderer..??
"Here is a picture of Germaine Greer. Can you guess who it is?" wtf?

The order of them each time is random though.
