I've written a non-shitty, nerdy sci-fi/fantasy ebook for kids aged 10-13. Though some have said it's more geeky than nerdy.
It has no vampires, zombies, werewolves, witches or wizards.
Its hero is not an orphan being raised by a miserable aunt and uncle who finds out his parents had special powers he may have inherited.
It is 100% muggle, midichlorian and magic-free.
But it does have entropy, probability, monsters made of stone, suspense and adventure.
At the Tumblr site you can read the first chapter to see if you are interested or whether, if purchased, it would make you hurl your iPad from a moving vehicle in disgust.
I hope you enjoy it!

Have you ever noticed kids in children's books are always orphans. You can almost hear the squeal of brakes as the cover opens:
" ... and so little Timmy's parents perished in a maelstrom of twisted metal, blood and splintered bone, leaving Timmy morally and sentimentally unencumbered and and ready for his Adventures"
Come to think of it - maybe THAT explains the rioting!
