This is a link post Smooth landing.
I'm sure they normally use wheels.

[edit] No injuries apparently.

[edit^2] Youtube video has been pulled. There is another version here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-15543209

This is a normal post Impressive
But I'm disappointed that they didn't plonk the nose down onto the roof of a moving car. It's what would have happened in the fillums.

This is a normal post I just flew in yesterday
I hate flying, and this is why. Imagine the hour they spent waiting for the fuel to run out. I bet there wasn't a dry seat in the house.

And also being treated like a terrorist for a couple of hours either end of the journey. And like cattle for the rest of it.

This is a normal post Very odd.
There's a mechanical backup for landing gear extension. Pull the lever and all the uplock pins release - gravity and aero drag then does the rest.

In order to perform a belly landing, either they had a complete failure of both the normal (hydraulic) and emergency (mechanical) extension systems, or they elected to do it. Can't see why they'd do the latter.
