Animal Sentience ruling update
Seems all the papers reporting it were lying or misleading or deliberately muddying the waters. The motion was to incorporate something in to law that by other accounts is still missing from the law. I'd need a legal expert with an understanding of animal welfare laws specifically for livestock or laboratory animals to resolve this. Don't trust the media, or maybe don't trust this statement, or maybe don't trust this post

People in this country have had enough of experts

No they haven't, they've had enough of experts statements being reinterpreted by the media
it says so on page 17 of the paper

A typically otiose and ovine observation.
The word has become as meaningful as "community leader".

Correct. I've been interviewed on the news as an expert
And I'm not an expert in fucking anything.

Hey if you can't trust gove who can you trust?
In all seriousness I smelt a rat when this story first went "viral".
It broke 6 days after it happened and I said at the time it was pointless to have opposed it. IF it is the case that the eu law doesn't do the job then it makes sense not to bring it over to uk law so long as we've get a fit for purpose replacement.
Still it got people riled up and excited about it. Maybe some will think twice before buying a bargain basement chicken that's had fuck all life.

I'm not one for pushing Guido Fawkes twitter bullshit
But this tweet gives you an idea of how far it was spread. Obviously take all the political twattery with a barge of salt, because it is Guido.

Look, all we were really saying was that if animals were so smart, then they wouldn't have evolved to taste so good, and to be so much fun to kill.
