and he used the original Bioshock assets. Not sure if that makes a difference. I'm pretty sure UE4 does have some nifty lighting effects in it though.

That's a bit much for a game engine isn't it?
Unreal 3 could baked in ray traced light but any moving lights were direct lighting only.
Bean playing about with Unreal 4 myself and whilst the lighting is good I've not noticed real time ray trace.

The series goes downhill after that. BioShock infinite is nowhere near as good as was initially reported.
