And I think King Kong (2005) marks a point where Hollywood went fuck it, CG will do everything, to hell with weight, practical effects or cinematography. The newer JP (only saw the first) is fucking awful, visually, ignoring the piss poor movie those visuals live in. The camera goes where it wants, following cartoon characters, whereas in the original, the camera acted like they'd gotten a trained T Rex or whatever loose on set and had figured out ways to shoot it.
