utter filth
The van said they were plumbers, she invited them in to have a look at the central heating and they ended up with a big stuffed pussy.

So his wife let in some blokes she encountered literally off the street
and then left them in their house whilst she went off to collect her daughter?
What could possibly go wrong?

I'm betting she invited the plumbers in for a spit roast and gave them the leopard as payment.

Lol...
I love the idea of some burglars casing the neighbourhood, using a plumbers' van and outfits for cover, being approached by one of the property owners and told "Can you just have a look at this... I'll be back in half an hour".
In such a situation, NOT stealing something ought to be considered rude.

"...The collector believes some plumbers poached the "priceless" stuffed leopard..."
"...He reckons the leopard - believed to be worth between £4,500 and £5,000..."
