My friends are trying to restore an old family dolls house into a steam punk version...
It must be said that this particular dollhouse is a family treasure and is in need of a lot of work. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.
The build will be documented here

So far its just a shell.....
What should they do to it?
please follow and give constructive idea's.

Not much of a dollhouse man myself, but I would add copper and brass tacks, maybe a wee steam radiator, couple of handguns, stuff like that.

Flog it and use the money to buy the materials to start from scratch.

It probably would save you more cash in the long run, and would save
you messing up something so precious.

That means any future generations of kids can't play with it. Or dont choose a theme that is going to be outdated and looking crap within a year or two.

things like this: www.digitaldollhouse.com/
Have fun now, make it cool as chuff, is what I say. Turn an outdated piece of junk into a beautiful work of art, which is they so choose kids can still play with.
PS Dolls house furniture and related items is a very expensive 'hobby' and is mostly a sad old adult hobby, rather than a kids thing.

i suggest:
Windmills/airship port(with airship)/air-kraken defense guns on roof.
Cellar with frankenstein slab/cell for manbeasts/winecellar with laudnum.
Cavorite workshop, cogs and tesla coils.
library (with necronomicon, maps of atlantis/mu/antartica)
and then put it all on wheels for the true traction-house look.
