But these have limited effect...
I was recently on ship where they opened a dredging pump (16 tons of iron and steel) to replace a damaged water seal.
Cue to people strolling under said pump held by a single wire on a rolling ship...
So yeah, they saved a few minutes risking getting squashed under the watchful of the Chief.
And we had had a death on another ship not 6 months before.
Idiots.

But joke aside, the level of lack of common sense basic survival instinct is really impressive.
The company that fired me did not even allow me to do a proper exit interview because they know I do things properly...
They do not want dire safety stuff recorded in black and white in the minutes of a meeting, so when people will die, they can profess ignorance.
I have no ill feelings to them, but I have friends working there, and I don't want them to roast in a Piper Alpha mess.
Oh yeah, comedy site, erm.. Salty seamen?

If anybody ever tries to claim Germans don't have a sense of humour, show them that.

I posted here recently comprises 1/3 clips from this, albeit too heavily edited to by GC'd. It is strangely arousing.
