This is a normal post I was reading somewhere
that parkour is a hoax. Just like crop circles.
It's no co-incidence that parkour started appearing at the same time that cheap digital video editing technology became available.
It's all fake.

I reckon alot of it is edited to make it look more fluid and dangerous than it really is. However, I have no doubt that there is a great deal of athletic skill involved in most cases.

I saw a really good programme a few years back about a bunch of guys who set up a school to teach disaffected kids, to give them some focus instead of just bumming around, and they were teaching them some really cool stunts.

The thing that gets me about parkour is that at it's basic level, it makes you look like a tit. I mean... imagine walking back from work one day and you see some guy just jumping around on and off a wall or across a railing... what's going through your mind at that moment?

But... at an advanced level, I reckon it's spectacular.

EDIT: looking at a few vids at the moment and I think it's just gymnastics on the street. Put them all in leotards and make them raise their hands at the end of each trick. Oh yes.

This is a normal post Erm
That's exactly what it is. Freestyle street gymnastics. What did you think it was? :)

And what do you mean just? Gymnastics requires almost superhuman strength and agility. I know this to my cost having recently gone back to it and starting a bit of freestyle and discovering that, despite being the fittest I've ever been I'm now old enough that it makes me hurt almost to immobility for two weeks.

But yeah, like skateboarding vids etc, free running vids are edited together to make it look more fluid. There's no other trickery involved though.

This is a normal post I love this stuff
I love how people walk away from a two foot wall that they stepped onto dramatically with all the smugness of a man who punched out a bear.

This is a normal post O.k. here is the truth:
1. Parkour IS a hoax. See how most of the movements are like a circle? Like a CROP CIRCLE?! All video editing.

2. Parkour videos are suppose to highlight specific movements during play. Yes, any video does better with some extra fluidity.

3. There still are debates on Parkour vs. Freerunning. In general Parkour in context of what it was designed for is for efficient movement. Period. Not flashy handstands and flips. Freerunning does employ acrobatics. I personally do not differ the two anymore because the amount of time I've wasted arguing about Parkour vs. Freerunning has honestly amounted to the wasted time I could have been training.

4. Parkour is enjoyed by many. It requires only devotion to train and condition. It always starts hard, but it gradually gets easier if you learn to enjoy the movements. I guess that is the same with martial arts and gymnastics themselves.

5. I like my screen name and my bail. A click is a click.

6. Next time I will try to look cool... I thought the Asian thing gave me a free pass...

7. Woo, yay, hoopla!

8. Not much running in it, but meh.

9. Shoot... I haven't even gotten all the lingo down.

10. I have become a bit obsessed with Falcon Jab. I actually wanted for a long time making a video to it.

11. I guess? In the beginning it showed me bailing, but it reversed flashing to what could have been more training. Despite all of that training the fact was I still bailed at the end. I suppose that could mean next time I should train better and just keep practicing.

12. I punch bears* on a daily basis, but walls are different because they hurt when you punch them.

*That are highly sedated.
