That is very very cool
And very stupid.

nice
any sciencey people know why the ice is so clear? My catering experience says boil water before you freeze it to remove dissolved air, but it doesn't seem likely this lake has been boiled...

Went to the ice hotel in Norway
On the tour they told us that they can only use ice from the local river because flowing water freezes super clear. I admit I can't remember quite why this is, but I reckon the above video is a frozen river. SCIENCE AND SORT OF LOGICAL DEDUCTION.

Think its something to do with the speed it freezes? Lack of tiny air bubbles is why its so clear though...?

SCIENCES!
Ice cubes have bubbles in because the outside freezes first and traps liquid inside. When the liquid freezes it releases the absorbed air and, since the air has nowhere to go, it creates bubbles. Ice makers that make clear ice cubes have super cooled rods and flowing water runs over them. The ice is built up in small enough layers for the unfrozen water to carry away the bubbles of air that are released. This probably froze over time where water hit rocks that were less than 0C, and the ice permeated out from the edge. In the middle, it is probably less clear.
