Why is it that great sci-fi shows such as
Firefly, Space: Above & Beyond, Farscape and Dark Angel are cancelled while utter fucking turds like Enterprise, Stargate: Atlantis and Andromeda were allowed multiple seasons of total shite to clog up the airwaves?

I consider Enterprise to be the bigger abortion
and I didn't want to be seen to be picking on the Trekkies/ers/whatever the fuck they call themselves.

I gave up on Enterprise
But I have a friend who claims it was just getting really good when it was cancelled, which kinda proves your point

Because people are idiots,
and the media caters to its audience.
Not to mention that Farscape and Dark Angel weren't any good. Now Mantis, that was a quality show...

Has anyone else noticed that Farscape is basically Blake's 7 with a decent FX budget?
A rag-tag bunch of outlaws, whose motives and loyalties are not always clear, united only by their opposition to a monolithic, tyrannical empire. A ship that's considered to be part of the crew. A violent second-in-command who's held in check by the captain. A gentle giant. Hell, we even have a psionic brunette and a gun-toting blonde!
About the only difference is that, in firefly, the big-titted short-haired woman who the captain fancies is part of the crew, rather than runing the empire...

Oh noes you have vaguely insulted me by suggesting a model I took some pictures of once doesn't adhere to your standards of beauty
Perhaps I should scour a "comedy" messageboard for an emotionally scarred, mentally unstable, dog-rough swamp donkey to marry instead

You've definitely not taken it to heart though.
Honestly, what would your dad say if he saw you behaving like this?

He'd probably think I was being unfair for trading insults with the mentally disabled

The word 'great' and the words 'sci-fi shows' have no business being in the same sentence as each other.
With this exception:
'People who like sci-fi shows are great big sweaty internet virgins with skin disorders, who sit in their pants all day eating Wotsits'

No, only 90% of Sci Fi is fucking shit.
But then, 90% of everything is fucking shit.
(With apologies to Theodore Sturgeon.)

Star Cops
Was "proper" hard SF. And lived up to the subject of the original question by being cancelled 2/3 of the way through its first series.

I shall look for that.
Thanks, I get sick of the fantasy crap that passes for sci-fi.
More Harry Harrison, less Gene Rodenberry I say!

Subjectivity.
That's a good word. I like that word. Thanks for suggesting I have a word, it was very satisfying.
