This is a question The best thing I've built

Wehttamman asks: My dad and I once built a go-kart from chipboard, pram wheels and an engine from a lawn mower. It didn't work... so tell us about your favourite things you've made, and whether they were a triumph or complete failure.

My first car was an XR2.
Like you, I decided to improve the sound. Fortunately it already had a radio casette player, but only two speakers in the rear parcel shelf.

I bought 2 very large speakers, marked and cut the holes in the door cards, and put them in. They were around knee level, and improved the sound immensely.

The I tried to open the window, which went down about an inch and a half and hit the speaker.

This should be its own entry
as it's both success AND failure.

It should win.

HHHHahahahaha!
I did the same with my MG Metro (non-turbo), massive speakers in the door ripped from a set of speakers from my Dad's old Alba HiFi he was chucking. Yeah, the impedance was wrong but that was the least of my worries, I could never figure out which was permanent live and switched live from the ignition - I should have known the difference, I worked at Maplins! (when it was good, selling components to hobbyists rather than the 'poor-mans PC world' it is now)
