I still use my brain
to convert 'new money' back into 'old money' then moan about how much a loaf of bread costs.
£1.3s.0d or 23 shillings!

12.5p was half a crown, it was 2 shillings and sixpence. 25p is a crown. So there.

Friend of mine was a project manager at $(massive_uk_high_street_bank) when they converted their core mainframe systems from that old gaffer money you're confusing us all with to decimal currency. In 1998.

I'm always quite surprised
by the fact that my colleagues are always amazed at my ability to do mental arithmetic. granted, working behind a bar for a few years means you get a lot of practice but still...
