and if you want to guard against abuse of this, grant the power to use this button only to those who have been site members for longer than 2 months or so, or who have at least 200 posts or some such arbitrary threshold.

record the users that have clicked on the spam button.
This allows discipline of a user that persistantly clicks on acceptable posts, simply because they do not like the post/poster/etc.

or number of posts - I'd say you get the "This is Spam!" button only after you have donated and recieved a b3ta icon - that seems a fair way to define who is serious about b3ta and who is retarded who might spam the spam button ;)

others have made sensible comments too, both in favour and against muu's suggestion. i hate spam and trolls quite a bit so i'd kill them if i could, but i understand the soft-hands approach.
