Oh. Sorry. I get irritated by pontificating anti-theists like the OP - 'my sister's emotional and financial turmoil are hilarious because she's a CHRISTIAN!'. This from someone who seems to take some pride in "hating hate and being intolerant of intolerance". Pff.

I fall well and truely into the "Atheist but don't give a shit" category.

I work with kids who have behavioural difficulties and they were getting a talk about drugs and alcoholism from a religious based support group.
One of them asked my about my beliefs. I told them I was an Atheist.
He says "How does that feel?" as if some fundamental piece of my existence was missing and I should be miserable and heartbroken.
I asked him if he believes in Buddhism or Islam. He said "No". I replied "It feels like that". He stomped off a bit deflated, it was a stupid fucking question though.

Have your beliefs but don't judge or look down on others for having different ones.

Dunno - I think it was a fair question (given that lack of faith is probably inconceivable to someone brought up in a faith) - and a very good answer, which illustrates the point perfectly.

It's an unanswerable question though.
Unless you've been on both sides I suppose.
I usually just say that I'm happy to be a moral person who tries to help others and don't feel that I have a void or something missing that I need religion to fill. Whether it be a comfort, sense of purpose/belonging or a moral guide.
