"TXT ME"
At least eight or nine times I've received a text message that simply reads "txt me."

About what? Why? Why don't you just text me something if you want to talk?

It's like putting up a sign that says "read me."

I prefer the sign that says "Do not read this sign"

Seriously? People text you to tell you to text them? I've never heard of this sort of thing before. How do you respond?

I'd try 'I don't know how, sorry'.

Perhaps your girlfriend requires validatory attention?

girls do it a lot to get out of dates etc, its a convenient way of saying "somethings come up". If it's not that the people on your phone are mentals ;)
