it's a bit odd to weigh in on a discussion about something on tv

The discussion was about the word "syfy" - I commented on that. I dont understand the problem with my not watching tv.

no problem with it
but if as you say you are just commenting on the word syfy, whether or not you watch tv is irrelevant, and an odd thing to open with. hence the comments.
