This is a question I don't understand the attraction

Smaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

Billy Connolly, what a bore he is.
I've tried to find him funny for over 30 years and it may be time to give up.

He swears a bit, laughs at his own funny swearing, pushes his hair back, swears a bit more....
Nope, still not working for me.

Agreed!
My Mum finds him hysterical but I've never once heard him say anything remotely funny....and the 'funny walk' gag was done years ago by MPFC and it wasn't funny then either...

His 'World Tour of.." Series
I found myself watching it because he is quite interesting and engaging, when he's not doing his dull comedy routines, bet the ratings would be shit without the comedy stuff though.

Agreed
As a host I like him, as a comedian he is dull and repetetive

There's a big difference
between the stuff he did 20 - 30 years ago, and his stand-up now. I went to see him about 15 years ago and he was brilliant; recent stuff, not so good.

An Audience with Billy Connolly is still one of the funniest pieces of stand up I've ever seen. It was about the right mix of absurd situation observational comedy; now it just seems to be observational but without a punchline.

He once told my mum that she had a huge arse to make a group of women laugh.
She was about seventeen at the time.

What a prick
and a bully.

Prick.

Alternative comedy
If he wasn't on they might fill the time with repeats of Dad's Army. He's the one I feel sorry for, anyway; he's married to Pamela 4king Stevenson, famously unfunny antipodean and quack psychologist.
