This is a question I don't understand the attraction

Smaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

The homophone answers to QOTW, "art ruction" "at ructon" etc.
You know the type. The very unfunny, highly unoriginal "There was a fight in the Tate and I couldn't understand the art ruction" and the ilk. Some of them are hand crafted and almost clever but they all just leave me cold and make me add the submitter to my ignore list.

Innit
It's worse when you get more than one in a row/on a page. How long do these folk take to come up with this shite?! Heart breaking, really.

Lies!
Punography is always welcome on my computer screen. And if I'm being punetrated by more than one person at once, then all the better I say.

homophone
sounds gay

methinks
you're too thick to come up with one, so you hit out.

There there, i'm sure your mummy still loves you.

i think the point was come up with one thats not so poor that
self mutilation of ones genitals with a rusty nail seems a preferable alternative to having just read the cunt

go on then smart arse - gives a decent one

considering this is your best ever QOTW answer...
writings of a charmless man

which propted a flurry of literally no replies i think we may well have to wait

Err...
Just to portray myself as a very sad nonce I think in 2005 the reply function wasn't available on the QOTW board. It's only been available relatively recently - maybe the last couple of years, but that's it.

being too thick to come up with one
doesn't make them any less fucking annoying. I manage to gloss over most of them - and I have been caught by some utterly brilliant ones - but memes like this need to die out.

I must admit
I like the particularly clever ones. Not those that are so blatantly false from the get go they make your eyes bleed, or the one liners, but those that suck you into their world are entertaining... and that's the point of QOTW, isn't it?

There's a few people I blocked this week, the page shrunk down to nubbins - they must have had two dozen crap puns stacked up like rush hour traffic.

??
You can ignore people?!

I actually quite enjoy trawling through the not so interesting stuff to hit the good stuff!
(, Wed 21 Oct 2009, 20:44, closed)
Agreed
I loathe them. I've actually started reading the final line of each post before bothering to read the rest, so I can skip over these.

I especially hate the long ones. Your example would be met with complete indifference from me, but the long, rambling ones, which only betray themselves as a shitty pun halfway through, or towards the end, really get on my nads. Complete waste of time.

Some of them are good - some not so...
But like the Smurf, I just skim the first few lines, and read the rest if it seems good. I don't ignore anyone - even the trolls :) it's quite amusing to see them trying to bait people.
