Common
Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."
My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.
What stuff do you think is common?

Fords common?
Not all Ford built cars- Volvos, Jags (until recently) etc are hardly "common". Frequently seen maybe but not common.
Also my lovely Ford Probe isn't common- there are 4 in this city, making it less common than Aston Martin DB9s!
Bacardi Breezers and their alcopop ilk really are awful things. Guaranteed hangovers (so you can go on and on about how drunk you got last night on 5 breezers) and loads of sugar (so you get hyper and fight or pass out, again leading to "I was so fookin drunk last night! SIX breezers AND a shot o' voddy!".
I'd say hitting women just isn't on either, but in these days of equal opportunities I'm clearly mistaken... that PC brigade- wife-beaters, the lot of 'em!

I thought...
that the Ford Probe was actually a Mazda build with Ford bits added on, similar to the old 121/Fiesta.

Indeed it is!
Well, sort of. Mazda provided the drivetrain but Ford did the chassis/suspension/etc. It's actually quite different to the MX-6 that it shares an engine with.

Nay
Granted the Probe's not a common sight (a reason for that maybe?).
Working in the car industry I get to play with a lot of new cars and the Fords always feel the least special. That coupled with how cheap and boring yet very popular the Focus is leads me to calling it common.
As for Fords other brands - they no longer own Jaguar (which is owned by Tata) and Volvos aren't as special as you may think they are; solid yes, well put together no.

I just couldn't think
of any other Ford owned car company than Jag and Volvo- and I did acknowledge that Jaguar wasn't owned by Ford anymore!
From what I've heard, the Probe's uncommon because it was vastly overpriced. It is, however, a rather nice car. Smooth engine, 1997 spec so it's an all-leather interior which is comfy (300 days on the first day I got it and I have less of a twinge in my back than I do getting up from bed).
And the Americans didn't like it because their fuel prices had fallen, completely swiping the market from under its feet. If they'd been able to stick a V8 in the thing it'd have done much better!
