Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."
My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.
What stuff do you think is common?

rather than chilling it properly is so common.

And so is what happens to it when you forget.
This accident brought to you courtesy of Mrs Legless.
Cheers
EDIT: BTW - thats a metal topped wine bottle. The pressure just blew straight through it.

it is a Brown Brothers Cienna - a 'light red wine' which is intended to be chilled. If you want to tut, do so at the fact it is 5% alcohol (assuming I have picked the label correctly)

Spot on.
Now tell me what year and which slope of the vinyard.
But I'm impressed.

Its taste would be improved by reducing the temp by a few degrees. Red wine is best enjoyed at around 18 degrees celsius which was considered room temperature when the 'rule' was set.
Due to central heating and double glazing, most people live in a psuedo-tropical environment pushing 25 degrees. Therefore what we think of as room temperature now is slightly too warm to enjoy some of your favourite plonk at its best.

your missus has invented a solution to the age old problem: how to open a bottle of wine without a corkscrew.

an episode of Black Books where Dylan Moran did that, smashed the glass, and called it a "lolly".
Classy.
