This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

Wearing sunglasses indoors
Unless you're blind, or a burn victim, there's no excuse for sunglasses indoors. You look ridiculous.

yes but
then no one but burns victims and the blind wore sunglasses indoors, it would draw more unwanted attention to them

I think
You can only get away with it if you're incredably gangsta.

Or genuinly thought you were still outdoors - you can't tell, you've got sunglasses on!

or
as has happened to me you wear prescription glasses. Get out of the car wearing prescription shades, leave normal ones in car because you are only going to be a second . Get caught up something happens and you have to go inside. End up inside feeling like a bit of a prat.

If you got beaten up by a girl and are hiding a black eye?

How about
Reactions lenses?

They stay black for a minute or so going from bright-outdoors to the dark indoor environment of work- do they class as common?

If so, common people have far too much money to waste on good glasses!
