Minidiscs were great!They filled the brief period between CDs and CDRs. How else could you make a mix tape with the high quality sound* and random access of a CD? Granted it was impossible to make a mix tape for a significant other because the only three people who owned a minidisc player were us here on this thread.
*yes yes I'm aware it was compressed with ATRAC but it was still better than tape
