This is a question Customers from Hell

The customer is always right. And yet, as 'listentomyopinion' writes, this is utter bollocks.

Tell us of the customers who were wrong, wrong, wrong but you still had to smile at (if only to take their money.)

"I know my Rights"
Oh really? Then why does your face go blank when:

- I try to discuss the Sale Of Goods Act.
- I remind you of the fact that shelf edge labels are an Invitation To Treat, not a Binding Offer.
- I cannot give you a definite answer to your question, because that would be speculation with regard to Fitness For Purpose.

Do not take me for some conjurer of cheap tricks. I am not trying to rob you. I'm trying to help you.

Good job! I have things like that in my line of work when people sign up for porn sites then complain that they are getting ripped off. "It only said a quid for three days."

"Did you read the terms and conditions or were you a bit, shall we say 'preoccupied'"

"No I didnt, but I did tick the box saying I had, now cancel it for me!"

"No can do, privity of contract, your contract is with them not us. I suggest you e-mail or phone them and ask for your money back...and keep your statement away from the missus"

(They really do use the arse ticklers faggots fan club trick from Lock Stock.

Amazing how many of my 'customers' could be termed wankers in a very literal sense

Surely the
Sale of Goods act has been superceded with SOGAS act?

Anyway, that aside, I know chapter 9 of the Data Protection Act more-or-less inside out.

I used to love it when firms phoned up for my misses, but "couldn't tell me the name of the company they were calling from" due to the Data Protection Act.

I used to ask which section they were quoting from etc...

It used to get me right down, as one particular firm (Loans.co.uk) couldn't even pronounce their own name correctly (once I had convinced them that the DPA wasn't relevant to them) and they would phone at 7am on a fucking Saturday.

One day, I even had a recorded delivery junk mail from them.

No matter how many times they were told that if I wanted a loan or my misses did, we would phone up and arrange one. I'm not the idiot out of the 'picture loans' ad, if I don't need a loan, no amount of cold calling is going to make me take one.

Anyway - /rant.

Well, I thought SOGAS really dealt with tradespersons. Unless you're thinking of the minor 1994 amendment to SOGA that mainly obliterated Marché ouvert? Either way, didn't really apply to reputable and proper classy retailers like wot we is.
