This is a question I'm your biggest Fan

Tell us about your heroes. No. Scratch that.

Tell us about the lengths you've gone to in order to show your devotion to your heroes. Just how big a fan are you?

and we've already heard the fan jokes, thankyou

Stewart Lee
I think he is funny and I was always a big fan of all the stuff I had seen, so when I realised he was playing the Melbourne comedy festival, I was pleased because I would have the chance to go see him. Surprisingly, he came into the bar I was working in (Y&J's FYI) to see the weekly comedy show.
I was clearing tables, removing glasses, refreshing ashtrays.

I told him how I'd been a fan for years and it was great to meet him, and how I was looking forward to his show. Apparently I couldn't be heard and he asked me to repeat, and asked me for an ashtray.

It was terribly awkward and surprisingly, not in the least bit witty, satirical or funny. I think i did his head in a bit. Since that moment I decided to leave famous people alone.

Sorry for not being funny or interesting. Stewart Lee is both, however.

Stewart Lee
My old housemate, upon tiring of me and my slummy environs, migrated the whole two miles south to Stoke Newington where he currently resides in a den far swisher than I could ever wish to inhabit.
I frequently head down there to visit him, and on feeling the urge to quickly grab a beer or two, have not once but twice, twice!, encountered Stewart Lee in the local offey, but have been far too overwhelmed to ever let it slip that I too disapprove of Ben Elton.
Aforementioned housemate encounters him even more regularly, local park, cafe, etc; so much so that it barely warrants mention from him any more :(

At Glastonbury Festival 2005
I gave Kevin Eldon a passport-sized photo of me and my then-girlfriend to give to Stewart Lee for his collection (yes, he collects passport photos). I even wrote my email address on the back.

He never sent me a thank you note :(

He came to the bar in Newcastle after a gig
Me and my flatmate decided to play it cool. Gave him a nod. Moved onto the next bar, and he showed up there. Moved on again to the Head of Steam, and he showed up again. CLEARLY stalking us.

Ah memories
I remember meeting him at a Fountains of Wayne gig at the LA2 in 1997. I was fairly drunk/awestruck at the time so all I could muster was "Wow! You're the guy from Fist of Fun aren't you? I LOVE your show. Can you sign my flyer?", and then hand him my pen. He smiled, confirmed his identity and signed my flyer before disappearing into the crowd.

What heartfelt message had he given me?

"To Mark,
That guy from Fist of Fun"

Had I met him a year or so later, I'm sure I would have just screamed "Egg! Egg, like a bird's egg! Egg!" in his faceā€¦

I went to see him
and should have got him to sign something afterwards. I always wonder if he's as much of a curmudgeon in real life as he seems on stage.

His comedy is aces though.

And he's on TV again!
