Fears and Phobias
I'll level with you. I'm really freaked out by loose buttons. I'm fine while they're doing their job, but once they're free the evil bastards are a major threat to my life. Tell us what spooks you, and how you cope. Also: church bells, doner kebab salads, death.

Large ships viewed bow on from water level. Looming.
This is frightening:

This is just a nice photo.

Do you get the same sensation
standing at the foot of a very tall building and looking up?

On a kayaking trip (in the Thames estuary), I found myself alongside a large, moored vessel.
Seeing it's hull extend down into the murky depths, vanishing out of sight, gave new a massive dose of the fear.
Deep water has always filled me with a sense of trepidation (I blame watching Jaws, at s young age), and the sight of the ship thus served as a reminder that I was helpless on the open water, in my tiny little boat, and moments away from being sunk by a large vessel or devoured by a sea monster.
