I went to the cinema once -
having forked out the equivalent of a medium-sized country's GDP for an adult ticket, and then the same amount that it would cost to cancel Third World debt to purchase popcorn and a small diet coke, I then had to go home and declare myself bankrupt and so missed the film, though I'm sure, given the astronomical cost, it would have been the best film ever.

Actually very close to the truth...
"A small diet coke and a bag of jelly babies please"

"That'll be £637.95 sir"

Grr.....

Heh
For that very reason I have not gone to a movie theatre for over 10 years.

This
I went to see I Am Legend and it cost me the best part of £20.
After the film, had I been given the choice beforehand, I would have preferred to have been bum-raped.
A similar feeling I can imagine.

Giv'uz a bell next time you feel like seeing a flick then. Nice little earner for me.

It's worse if it's a really shit film too.
I was once forced to go and see "My Best Friends Wedding".

I'd rather have stapled my scrotum to the table than sit through that... AND I had to pay for it.

At the end of my life, I'll lament those two wasted hours.

Why watch just the one film?
The way UK multiplexes are laid out, once you're in you can stay all day, watch as many films as you like.

That's also the reason why food/drink is so expensive and why they don't like you bringing in your own stuff.

I always take my own food.
Unless someone else is paying of course : )

The reason it's so expensive
is that the producers and distributors charge ridiculous amounts to show the film.

So the only way for them to recoup the money is through charging silly money for food and drink.

It's not that long ago a ticket was £2.60...
