He wasnt the first rude thing I ever saw but he dad have a fantastic collection of European bongological education videos. An entire antler hardcase's worth. I was probably about 8 or 9 when I was searching for hidden christmas presents and found this suitcase which, obviously, must contain my presents. So me and Che, my half caste friend opened the case and were most put out to find nothing but VHS tapes, they didnt even have labels on them for god sake. Anyway we worked are way through them hoping to find transformers the movie, or a new nightmare on elm street but all we saw were naked people trying to climb over each other repeatedly. This was of no use to use so the case was returned where it remained until I was 12/13 and at high school. Suddenly I was Hugh Hefner with my suitcase of porn and two video recorders. I made a killing at a fiver a time for what seemed like every male in the school. And from that small acorn grew the sexually perverted deviant that is typing this now.

but I have two friends called Che, one is black and one is half caste/mixed race whatever, Mixed race to me sounds more like some bizarre experiment whereas half caste seems like a label, of sorts. like white or black. Neither give a shit what I call them as they call me a honky and I call one a black bastard and one a half breed if we are having a laugh. If that makes me racist then it also makes them racist too.

I doubt that massively, they are people I know and socialise with that I call what I want. And them to me, if I were to meet a stranger of any ethnicity then I wouldn't be using the same language or terms with them. I call my mates cunts but wouldnt greet a stranger like that, colour or race doesnt come into it, a friend called fat bob or something, you then dont greet someone new who is overweight with fat xxxxx do you. Its how you all socialise with each other, 2 friends with the smae name and one is fat/black/asian/ a giraffe whatever, you use labels to differenciate them, no racism involved.

The OP has my sympathies
I still used the term 'half caste' and not mixed race until quite recently even in front of a friend with a mixed race child completely oblivious to the fact it wasn't a PC term. She wasn't massively offended but did point out my error which I obviously felt bad about.
I wasn't using the word in a derogatory way as I was unaware of any negative connotations but I suppose that's the issue in a nutshell - it was my ignorance that could be found offensive by others.
I now refer to her son as 'half rice/half chips' so everyone's happy!
