This is a question B3TA fixes the world

Moon Monkey says: Turn into Jeremy Clarkson for a moment, and tell us about the things that are so obviously wrong with the world, and how they should be fixed. Extra points for ludicrous over-simplification, blatant mis-representation, and humourous knob-gags.

Needs a low voltage circuit
I've got loads of wall warts for various devices, not just phones and laptops, and they're a pain in the backside. Never seem to be able to find the right one to plug into the right device.

Instead of having all of these individual power supplies, let's replace them with one big one next to the meter that has its own network of sockets throughout the house. That way, all you need is the cable to connect your device to the wall, and the overheads associated with running multiple separate PSUs are reduced.

Pretty much all mobile phones charge from usb these days, including Apple's iPhones... The wall-wart just has a USB A female socket. So it's just the cable that's different.

In fact every iOS device and Android phone I've got uses this configuration. I think the phone side of things is "almost there". There's no reason for it not to be to be, they will save cash in doing so as they can ship without a charger.

They even have them in plug sockets now:
