Being a naval reservist, I often hang out with the pride of HM's Navy
one of whom, Dicky (for that was his name), was possibly the worst person I have ever come across. He was a Chief Petty Officer stoker, or engineery type senior rating. Now, those of you familiar with the fair city of Portsmouth will be well aware that among the civilian population thereof, us Navy chaps are none too popular.

This was gloriously demonstrated a couple of years ago when, on a run ashore to the pub after a deployment a man in a wheelchair started hurling abuse at us, and just wouldn't stop.

Dicky, being a big chap and somewhat aggressive to boot, tired of this after about an hour. He invited the wheelchair man to roll outside with him, and, since I was nominally in charge of him, I hurried out to make sure there wasn't a death.

No death. Instead, our hero lifted the wheelchair man bodily out of his contraption and put him in a skip. Then he threw the wheelchair into the sea. I don't think I've ever laughed so much in my entire life.

I merely noted that in a town which has long-standing tensions between the civilian and military populations, if a civilian were to start endlessly hectoring a military fellow, it would a fairly likely outcome. Particularly in a pub, as it's a fair bet drink was involved.

Your anger and vitriol toward a total stranger is troubling to say the least, that amount of sustained anger over a trivial remark and response goes beyond the range of a normal response. When someone shows that kind of inappropriate rage, especially on a level which seeks to try to humiliate someone unknown is usually in reality a self reflected rage.
Trying to control through verbal bullying of the sort you are attempting demonstrates a fear of being controlled and humiliated which maybe a result of a childhood trauma or series of humiliating events. You are trying to feel powerful by acting out in this way and somehow be ‘better’ in an as yet undefined scenario. The responses are showing your need for revenge and the escalation of insult, with implicit inviting of a response is so you can feed the anger and blame that response as ‘their fault’ as ‘they provoked it’ (a familiar ploy of domestic and other abusers) while being blind to your own failure of self control.
On a simple level, you are acting out what was done to you a long time ago, you are probably in denial on a lot of levels.
Don’t try to replace your thinking that you are only showing contempt, it’s a another expression of anger or rage and trying to ameliorate it by justification and blame is just exacerbating your problems .
Whether you are aware of it I can’t say for sure but your attempt to intellectualise through verbiage can’t hide the deeper need to hurt as you once were and are still demonstrating the effects of it.
I feel sorry for you as you need to deal with this, any response from you from now on is adding fuel to your fire and feeding back into your own cycle of self abuse. I won’t respond further as I can see now it’s not what you need.

My parents are registered disabled and if they abused someone just because of their job, I am fairly sure they'd expect to be abused back. A disability is not a get-out-of-jail-free card and, unless the person is mentally ill, it's not a justification to act like a twat.
