This is a question Bizarre habits

Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic tells us: "Until I pointed it out, my other half use to hang out the washing making sure that both pegs were the same colour. Now she goes out of her way to make sure they never match." Tell us about bizarre rituals, habits and OCD-like behaviour.

Socks
To me this is something that is so completely pointless yet so pervasive in society that I can only assume it's the result of a mass psychotic delusion - some kind of subconscious OCD operating on the population level.

I'm talking about wearing matching socks... making an actual conscious effort to wear matching socks!? Why?

Apparently people actually spend time pairing the fuckers up.

I can only think of the economic cost of all this futile effort.

Easily solved.
Just buy 15 (or however many) identical pairs of socks.

well that's not what I'm getting at
What I'm getting at is there's nothing to solve - there's no problem - just stop worrying about your socks.

Free your feet.

I don't even care if my socks are inside-out
that's how I roll

that's the fuckin spirit

I wear odd socks most days, to the point where it feels strange to put on a matching pair.

Nothing planned, i just grab the first two socks...

Yeah
It annoys me when people think I've made a concerted effort to wear odd socks - when it's they that have the OCD.

I feel I have found my fellow not-too-fussed-about-socks wearers! I'm used to the "You have odd socks on?!" reaction.

Awh, I am not alone :')

Hooray!
Odd sockers unite!

Odd socks are lucky! (or at least Mrs Shamrock says so and who am I to argue?)

mostly with you on this
I don't care about the colour, pattern, etc - but they have to reach approximately the same length up the calf, and not be too horribly different in density of weave. I don't give a rat's ass how they look, but I like my feet to *feel* symmetrical...

This^
I can never seem to purchase enough of the same type of sock that I can pick a pair out of a pile and not end up with one long and one short -- and that just feels wrong.

I find it uncomfortable if one sock is higher up my leg than the other

socks
not only do they have to be a matching pair, but they have to go on the correct feet.
i.e. if i have a pair with a design or logo on just one side of the sock, then that must always go on the outside of my leg.
i have never worn a pair of odd socks. you wouldnt wear odd shoes would you?
(, Fri 2 Jul 2010, 13:19, closed)
I own only one pair of shoes

(, Fri 2 Jul 2010, 14:44, closed)
nice
an appropriate, manly number of pairs of shoes.
