at a Rock Against Racism in the 80s......some reggae guy was playing and was subject to a barrage of frightfully witty bons mot from some of the crowd, I gather for the crime of not being the Sex Pistols.
His response of "I hope you hate the National Front as much as you hate me" was pretty classy I feel.
PS I wasn't there, this is just something I read.
