This is a question Heckles II

It was my privilege the other month to see a particularly foul and abusive heckler literally chased out of a comedy club by enraged punters. So: Comedy nights, staff meetings, football matches. Tell us of epic or rubbish heckles.

A friend of mine "scored" tickets to a recording of BBC Radio 4 comedy show.
Now, it wasn't something with famous people (Just A Minute, I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue etc) but some tedious generic pissflap called Look Away Now. It was loosely based on sport from what I can remember, but by Christ is was shit.

This "shit" element appeared to bypass most of the audience who all obediently hooted with laughter at every obvious joke and it appeared that I was in for a torrid time. Even my friend was finding it funny. She is a bit dull though.

Anyway, step in my night's saviour. He and his wife were sat next to me and he had clearly been soaking alcohol up like a sponge before entering the auditorium. He'd made a few comments in the quiet moments, but nothing too bad, just lazily commenting on whatever the last punchline was, that sort of thing. His missus had enough of his embarrassing behaviour and stomped out, leaving him on his own.

His final throw of the dice was waiting for another quiet bit and yelling out "this is fucking shit!!" before a nervy usher came over and suggested that he might be better off outside.

I often wonder if this person and his missus actually existed or if they just represented something in my head.

I've just checked, and somehow that show had 4 series. How incredibly shit.

Awful series, presented by Today's less competent sports presenter.
Maybe it was funny if you liked sport?

Nope. I like all sorts of sport. Still found it to be tedious, obvious and generic

when you say "scored" do you mean "applied for in the usual manner like everybody else"?

Well, getting tickets to the ISHIAC Christmas when fairly sure Humph was on his last legs I considered
a score. Especially when I sold them on a "well known internet auction site"

Sarcasm was the intended tone of "scored".
I think they were ushering people in off the streets to fill the seats at this show.

I love R4 comedy at 6:30...
...apart from the shit sitcom stuff that seems to gravitate toward a Thursday. Cabin Pressure was... alright*, but the rest is just forgettable dreck at the best of times and makes me count the seconds until The Archers starts at others.

*Only because John Finnemore's voice always puts a smile on my face.

Yes.
I tend to be going to things at 6:30pm on weekday evenings and have long-since given up trawling through the music stations or getting my iPod to pick up a decent signal on the FM device that someone got me for Christmas. I now much prefer a bit of comedy radio. The show on Mondays with David Mitchell kills a good half-hour (the one where they have to fool other members of the panel with some sort of monologue on a topic).

Still can't stand Just A Minute though.
The show itself is great, it's the presenter I can't stand.
The sooner Nicholas Effin' Parsons carks it the better.

I like this...

Have a click.

There does seem to be a belief at Radio 4 HQ
that all you need to do for a smash-hit sure fire winner is grap a few second rate standups - stubble, Converse All-Stars and a regular allowance from Daddy - and stick 'em in a quiz show. The result is always shit.

It's even worse when they are desperately scratching round for women - like that sad case who sings tuneless and unfunny songs on The Now Show. All the funny women are on the News Quiz.
