This is a question Hypocrisy

Overheard the other day: "I've told you before - stop swearing in front of the kids, for fuck's sake." Your tales of double standards please.

Bono.
He's not actually a hypocrite, but he is quite annoying isn't he?

I hate all the anti Bono stuff
I mean, he's really just trying to do good isn't he? He raises awareness,he raises money, he donates money, all pretty selfless if you ask me. You might say '' yeah but its self promotion''. To which i'd reply '' shut up you cynical little cretin, the man is trying to help people while you do absolutly fuck all for anybody apart from your own''. I don't like his sunglasses though, or his platforms, or his songs. It does irk me though why some people seem to hate him. Poor old Bono.

I know he means well.
And it would be wonderful if we could actually end all the 3rd-world debt and poverty and all that.

The reason people dislike him is because he, like Bob Geldof before him, can't seem to help being so fucking pious about it.

He annoys us because he is a multi-millionaire trying to make people on minimum wage feel guilty about not doing enough to stop poverty.

What's the difference
between God and Bono?

God doesn't walk around Dublin all day thinking he's Bono.
(, Thu 19 Feb 2009, 16:59, closed)
.
You don't see Bono very much in Dublin because he spends his time roaring around the South of France on his motorbike.

What's the difference
between God and Bono?

God doesn't spend all his time poncing around like a cock in the South of France encouraging more development of their beautiful coastline and polluting their atmosphere with his motorbike pretending to care about the enviroment (while paying as little tax as humanly possible which could, you know, be spent on good things) and thinking he's Bono.

Better?

Actually, Bono is a hypocrit of the highest order
He has gained considerably by not paying income tax in Ireland for many years, because he's an artist, but as soon as there's a hint of this law changing, he moves his company to somwhere like Holland, which has more favourable tax laws.

Considering how much he has gained over the last 25+ years of being a massive earner and not paying any tax, it's hypocritical of him to not contribute to the Irish state, yet still expect them to wipe out third world debt, something he could do without noticing the hole in his bank account

Not only
Is he annoying and short but he IS a hypocrite because he has all his money salted away in some banana republic in a tax avoidance scam.

I read this in Private Eye a while ago, which I suppose is the equivalant of having a cousin whose next door neighbour talked to a bloke on the bus who...

He's still an irritating little git though. And his music isn't improving either.

Edit - well spotted Duckeee, although Holland was'nt the banana republic I had in mind.

Totally agree and I'd add another name to the list.
I put Sting in the same category as Bono. Can't stand either of them.
(, Thu 19 Feb 2009, 19:34, closed)
Haha, Viz did a beautiful Sting strip
where he flies around in his private jet telling people how to recycle bottles...come to think of it, they always print how Bono had his hat flown out to him because he couldn't do a show without it whenever they can as well :)

There was a good piece in yesterday's Guardian
saying that while Bono flies around Africa pointing out what should be done, he's actually disenfranchising the elected leaders of the individual nations - it's like Britney Spears coming to the UK and telling Gordon Brown how to get out of recession.

To be fair
she probably couldn't do a worse job.

Every time he claps his hands a kid in Africa dies.
