Kids
Either you love 'em or you hate 'em. Or in the case of Fred West - both. Tell us your ankle-biter stories.

Selfishness = no kids
Have been married for four years now, so the topic of kids tends to cme up a lot. Especially since a good few mates have had ankle biters recently.
Me and the missus have always maintained that we don't want kids and will frequently point this out when we hear screaming kids in public.
Due to this QOTW, I brought the subject up with the missus last night and asked her why she doesn't want kids. Her answer "because I won't share you with anyone else. You're mine and that's it". She then asked me why I don't want them my answer: "because I don't like you using my stuff, like my PC, my consoles, my stereo etc. Can you imagine what would happen if a kid tried to touch any of them?".
Plus we both like to spend our money on ourselves - she likes to buy shoes, clothes, make-up etc. and spends the rest of her cash on her nails, hair, tan etc. Mine all goes on lager and useless gizmos.
So, in short, we won't have kids because we are just far too selfish.

Dammit, how did you find a woman who doesnt want kids?
Every girl/woman i've ever had a relationship with has always eventually stated that they want to get married and have kids. Then I run away at great speed.

not selfish
its honest, and environmentally friendly. everyone who doesn't have children should get tax breaks for not perpetuating the species and destroying natural resources.
or get cheaper petrol please.

^ yep
One of the reasons I don't have kids is for purely selfish reasons. Me and the ex agreed that we enjoyed our lifestyle too much and the freedom to be able to fuck off to where we pleased, when we pleased. We did briefly consider it, and she came of the pill for a couple of months, but a weekend visit from my sister and her two little ones shook us back to our senses again. 48 hours of pure noise...
Obviously we're not together anymore (and than christ we didn't have kids, as they'd be facing the prospect of losing their mum at an early age thanks to her inoperable brain tumour) but I still don't have that desire to procreate. Although I am now responsible for a child's welfare, and that's OK.
Colonel Dracula - there are, it would seem from this board, plenty of women out there who don't want kids. It's just finding them that's the problem.
There are also plenty of women (and men) out there who thought that they did want kids, but, on having them, find that they really didn't and are now stuck with them...

You'll find a great deal of support for the notion that not having kids is actually less selfish than having them!

Freedom is another issue...
... me and the missus fequently like to go the pub on a Saturday afternoon and then not return home until 24 hours later. If we had kids and did that, social services would want a word...
